Social Gathering

HBS Club of Pittsburgh

A MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT

Welcome to the HBS alumni club of Pittsburgh! In this era of Covid-19, much of our club activity has become virtual. However, we are kicking off our 2020-2021 social season with a picnic on Tuesday, September 15, 2020 from 4:30 -7:30 pm at Schenley Park’s Westinghouse Shelter on West Circuit Road. Please register on our website by September 13, 2020. Pizza will be provided by Jet’s Pizza. Please feel free to bring your preferred libations as we have purchased a liquor permit.  Participation will be limited to the first 24 people including your registered spouses and significant others.  Since social distancing and mask discipline will be practiced, we ask that you consider bringing your own personal lawn chairs and/or blankets as this will help us all to keep safe.

GNN is scheduled for October 21, 2020 and this year it’s virtual as per HBS’ recommendation. Many more events are being planned such as a mystery VIP speaker for November, our annual December Financial Forecast, and our own Board of Governors Chairman Bill Slivka’s case study of his managing the enormous public relations challenge of the September 1982 & February 1986 Tylenol poisonings. This event will be held on Wednesday, February 10, 2021 making it the 35th anniversary of this watershed event (tampering) that caused the permanent removal of all capsule medicines from the over-the-counter market. This one is not to be missed!

Last but not least, in recognition of our new and hopefully temporary virtual modality, we will be waiving all membership fees for the upcoming year. Thank you all for your continued engagement and I look forward to seeing you all “on screen” if not in person, as we adapt and overcome the challenges of our new normal. Stay safe!

Tony
