Social Gathering

HBS Club of Pittsburgh

Greetings and salutations, fellow HBS’ers!

The COVID-19 pandemic experience affected each of us in many ways and the Delta Variant continues to wreak havoc on even the best laid plans. If you’ve strolled through downtown’s once busy streets, you’ll notice there are many shuttered businesses that didn’t survive and others desperate for employees. Join us this year as we explore the pandemic’s impact on our Pittsburgh-based organizations. Learn how some of these treasured organizations responded to the challenges to emerge smarter, stronger, and more resilient.

We have lots of exciting events scheduled so far! We’re going to kick off our 2021-2022 season on September 15th with an in-person meet and greet at our old haunt the HYP Club with refreshments and a cash bar. Global Networking Night is October 20th at Galley in Bakery Square. It has been hinted that Todd Reidbord, Walnut Capital owner and our gracious host, will be on hand to discuss how his organization has weathered this pandemic. November 3rd will see Pittsburgh Penguins COO, Kevin Achlin, providing his organization’s response to the pandemic. On November 16th, CEO Richard Piacentini will walk us through Phipps Conservatory’s synergizing “Regenerative Thinking” approach to the pandemic conundrum.  For our 2021 finale, world famous financial forecaster and former PNC Bank Chief Economist, Dr. Stu Hoffman, will provide us course navigation through these trying times and share his insights on our local, regional and national economy. A few events in the back half of the season are still being organized – stay tuned for an update on these in coming months.    We remain cautiously optimistic that we will be able to hold in-person events, but we will, of course, adhere to CDC recommendations. Please be patient with us as we navigate the uncertainty of planning events under COVID-Delta variant.

This year, we are shifting to an “All-Inclusive” members’ rate which allows you to bring one guest to each event free of charge. We are convinced that we provide a good value for the membership fee and access to the intellectually challenging opportunities and discussions you can’t get elsewhere. As always, you can pay for membership, find up-to-date information about events, and RSVP for events at our club website:

Also feel free to email your officers individually or at:

Many thanks for your membership and looking forward to our fellowship in the ensuing year.
