About the event

Please join us for remarks from, and an open discussion with, Corey O'Connor, current Allegheny County Controller.  The discussion will focus on the current challenges for Pittsburgh, opportunities in the future, and steps that the city government can take to encourage success for the city, its people, and the business community.    


Corey was sworn in as Allegheny County Controller on July 10, 2022 filling a vacancy and was re-elected in November 2023. Previously, Corey represented Pittsburgh City Council District 5 from 2012 until assuming the Controller’s office. He serves on Allegheny County’s Retirement Board, Investment Board, Depository Board, and Jail Oversight Board. His accomplishments included authoring legislation to require annual audits of the Tax Abatement and Tax Increment Financing Programs, crafting the City of Pittsburgh’s Paid Sick Days Act, and creating the Joint Task Force on Construction Industry Fraud to increase accountability and prevent malpractice throughout the construction industry.
