About the event
Join the Harvard Business School Association of Pittsburgh for an educational event all about joining and serving on private company boards.
Our keynote speaker, Jim Bly of Ernst & Young's Pittsburgh office, has built a career around advising private and family-owned companies on governance and board structures. He also maintains a resume book of great board seat candidates for his group at E&Y and actively recruits for board seat openings in Pittsburgh and elsewhere. We are very privileged to have Jim share his wisdom about how to take on that first board seat and serve effectively in for-profit governance roles.
Joining Jim for our panelist discussion will be Preston Walsh, who is a partner at PNC Mezzanine Capital. Preston has spent his career helping privately held companies reach their growth objectives through mezzanine and equity financing. Preston currently holds board seats on six privately held companies, has oversight for additional portfolio companies, and spends a significant portion of his time thinking about human capital as it relates to PNC Mezzanine Capital’s investment companies. We are fortunate to have him share his insights about serving on private boards.
The event will start at 6 pm, with presentations and speakers through around 7:00-7:30 pm, incorporating some Q&A, and followed by time for mingling. Light hors d'oeuvres and non-alcoholic beverages will be provided, along with a cash bar.
Attendance is free for season pass members, $15 for regular members, and $20 for guests and non-members.
This event is open to the community, so we encourage you to share details with friends and colleagues who may take an interest in learning about this topic, or who may have something to add to the conversation.
Please RSVP through our website no later than 1 week in advance.
The event location is the Walnut Room at the Duquesne Club (business attire).
