Pittsburgh's Fast Growing Tech Ecosystem

Audrey Russo, President and CEO of the Pittsburgh Technology Council in her comments on the recent 25th anniversary of Pittsburgh's "Tech 50", honoring the progress the technology and innovation economy has made over the past year, said "Pittsburgh companies are not just changing the future of Pittsburgh—they’re solving problems that will change the world. Much of the world’s opportunities in autonomy, efficiency and language have originated from Pittsburgh."  She further noted that the Pittsburgh's region's innovation ecosystem represents 37% of the payroll in Southwestern PA's 13 counties.  In fact, the Pittsburgh tech sector generated $22B in the last decade according to some reports.

Further, Startup Genome, a world-leading innovation policy advisory and research firm recently ranked Pittsburgh as 13th among the world’s emerging startup ecosystems in a study released this year, up from 23rd place last year.  Driving this are major tech companies with significant local presence that have had big exits, including Duolingo, Aurora, Stronghold Digital Mining and Cognition.

On October 12, we will learn more about the latest developments in interconnected technology here in Pittsburgh and what the technology future holds for us.

The event costs $10.00 for all registered Members and each of their guests.    Non-member HBS alums, their guests and the general public pay $20.00 each.
