About the event

Glen Meakem, a graduate of Harvard College (1986) and Harvard Business School (1991), was the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of FreeMarkets, a B2B E-Commerce company which he founded in 1995, took public in a record setting IPO in 1999, and then sold to Ariba in 2004. He was then a Co-Founder and Managing Director of a successful early-stage venture capital firm called Meakem Becker Venture Capital. More recently, Glen has been the Founder and CEO of FOREVER, the world’s first and only complete, permanent memory keeping service in the internet cloud.  He is also the lead Series A investor and Chairman of the Board of Niche.com, a revolutionary company that connects potential students with colleges and universities.  Glen attended Harvard College on a military scholarship and served as a combat engineer platoon leader in the First Gulf War. He had early career experience as a Product Manager at Kraft-General Foods, a consultant with McKinsey & Company, and a Manager at General Electric, where he served on Jack Welch’s staff.

On Monday, February 20, Glen, a fellow member of the Harvard Business School Club of Pittsburgh, will share stories and lessons learned from FreeMarkets and his long career as a successful entrepreneur and business leader.   

The event will be at the HYP Club with complimentary hors d'oeuvres and cash bar.   Doors open at 5:00 pm at the HYP Club, with complimentary hors d’oeuvres and a cash bar at 5:30 pm.  Glen's remarks commence at approximately 6:00 pm. Q & A follows.

Admission costs $10.00 for all registered HBSCP Members and each of their guests to cover costs.    Non-member HBS alums, their guests and the general public pay $20.00 each.
