About the event
Pittsburgh-based Astrobotic's Peregrine lunar lander left their headquarters on the North Shore and is now headed to test facilities before its first launch to the Moon in early 2023. Slated to be the first commercial lunar lander to ever soft land on the Moon, the space robotics company's Peregrine is carrying payloads from NASA’s Commercial Lunar Payload Services initiative. Astrobotic calls itself a lunar logistics company which provides end-to-end delivery services for payloads to the Moon.
The new Moonshot Museum, which opened in October 2022, partnered with Astrobotic at the headquarters and features a wall of glass through which visitors watch real lunar landers being built and readied to fly to the Moon. This unprecedented visibility plugs guests into the real-time work of space through immersive simulated mission experiences, real space industry problem-solving, and direct access to Pittsburgh space professionals.
