Pittsburgh's Moonshot Museum Virtual Event

About the event

Move over, Richard Branson and Jeff Bezos! A new museum in Pittsburgh is about to blast off and we get to go along for the ride. Astrobotic, the space robotics and lunar logistics company based in the Northside, is partnering with the new nonprofit Moonshot Museum, where visitors will experience a real spacecraft being built and be immersed in hands-on lunar exploration activities. The museum’s feature attraction will be a large clean room window through which visitors can watch real lunar landers and rovers being built and readied to fly to the Moon. The museum, when opened, in 2022 will include digital and on-site workshops that will aim to educate its audience about the future of space commerce, science, exploration and settlement. Workshops will include simulations of real space missions and foster tech awareness and readiness in the Pittsburgh region and around the world. Our virtual visit will include a talk about the initiatives taking place right here in Pittsburgh to explore our nearest space neighbor, the Moon.

“We’re building a museum like no other, and we’re thrilled to finally share a look at what the future holds for Moonshot Museum,” said Sam Moore, the Museum’s executive director. “We can’t wait to take Pittsburgh on a mission to the Moon with this innovative, immersive, and cutting-edge experience. Using human creativity and state-of-the-art technology, we will connect young people across our community and the nation with endless opportunity that exists in the 21st century space industry.”  Sam will take our alumni group through the story behind the museum and its mission in America's return to the moon.

This event is co-sponsored with the Yale Club of Pittsburgh (YCOP) which has a strong connection to the Moonshot Museum through the service of former YCOP president (and current YCOP Board member) Justine Kasznica on the museum’s Board.

The Moonshot Museum  virtual event will be held on March 10. The Zoom will open at 5:00pm and we expect the event to last until about 6:15pm. Zoom links will be sent to registered attendees.
